Kochi Metro gets the final safety nod; to commence operations soon
The citizens of Kochi has got a big reason to cheer. Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has bagged the Fit for operation certificate from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety and his team who inspected the Metro last week expressed complete satisfaction in the facilities and safety system of Kochi Metro.
With the approval from CMRS, the ball is in the court of KMRL to decide the date of commercial operations. The state government has officially invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the metro service. It is expected that the service will be inaugurated by the end of May.
In the first stage, the metro will operate in the 13 km strech from Aluva to Palarivattom. There are 11 stations in the route.
